Personalised Greeting Cards
Creating a personalised version of my bunting card for a very special birthday was just a joy. The customer wanted a yellow theme and a little chick motif to tie in with her pet name for her daughter - this celebration card works really well for personalisation. Process
After a brief discussion with the client, I got started on the design. My illustration process starts with visual research and sketching roughs, then linework drawn by hand using my favourite Unipin fineliner. I scan this in and clean up in Photoshop, sometimes adjusting the layout too. This allows for changes later on - for this design I added some extra bunting and moved the balloons to balance the composition. I created a little chick illustration too. In Illustrator I changed the colour, shading and caption.
Once the card design was complete I arranged for the printed card to be sent directly to the customer.
Font is Tomarik by Mariya V. Pigoulevskaya. I always look to use fonts designed by Black or female typographers and credit them wherever possible.
Project completed in August 2021.
