Rosette Cards
This greeting card design works well for a range of occasions including numbered age cards for children and new baby cards. It was a joy to illustrate and design this range of modern cards, printed on recycled board.
Process
My illustration process starts with research and sketching roughs, then linework drawn by hand using my favourite UniPin Fine Line 0.7 on FSC white card. I scan this in and clean up in Photoshop, sometimes adjusting the layout too. In Adobe Illustrator I add colour fills, shading and experiment with the colour palette and type.
I always look to use fonts designed by Black or female typographers and credit them wherever possible.
The numbers are hand-drawn, and the ‘born in’ font is Omnes by Joshua Darden of Darden Studio (link below).
