Going From One Child to Two
I started sketching this illustration after listening to episode 31 of Doing It For The Kids podcast, as they discussed how work admin, life admin and parent admin lists grow longer with every child, but there are ways to see you through it. Can you relate? DIFTK is one of my favourite podcasts to listen to. It’s hosted by Frankie Tortora and Steve Folland, with loads of advice for freelancing parents, and each episode is only 20 mins!
Process
This piece was created as an editorial sample for my portfolio. I sketched roughs inspired by the podcast episode and the themes within it. The linework was created in sections, using my UniPin Fine Line 0.7, on FSC white card. Scanned in and cleaned up, I put together the composition and selected my colour palette. I love to keep the detail and irregularities of the hand-drawn line, so I don’t polish it too much. I used Adobe Illustrator to add the colour and shading, as well as the image credits, ready to share on social media.
Project completed in June 2021.
