Lockdown Celebration Cards
I created this range of 7 celebration cards for my online shop, each one featuring hand-drawn illustrations. I was inspired by celebrating my own birthday during May 2020, and finding ways to make it a bit special despite the UK lockdown restrictions. Ordering pizza, making cakes, zoom party celebrations and decorating the house. The pizza design ‘Birthday Treats’ is one of my all-time bestselling cards.
Process
Starting with lots of ideas and sketching out thoughts around lockdown celebrations, I illustrated seven cards. The linework is created by hand with my favourite Unipin fineliner. I scanned these into Photoshop to clean them up and then added colours, depth and fonts in Illustrator.
Font is Tomarik by Mariya V. Pigoulevskaya. I always look to use fonts designed by Black or female typographers and credit them wherever possible.
